The Government of Portugal will strengthen AIMA (Integration, Migration, and Asylum Agency) by hiring 64 additional workers.

AIMA in Portugal

The Government of Portugal has announced three bidding processes in the Official Gazette of the Union to recruit 64 workers for AIMA in Portugal, across various categories.

The largest competition is set to fill 50 vacancies for AIMA stores in multiple locations.

Most stores—such as those in Albufeira, Faro, Portimão, Beja, Portalegre, Évora, Odemira, Bragança, Guarda, Viana do Castelo, Viseu, Alverca, Cacém, and Odivelas—will be reinforced with two employees each. Meanwhile, Lisbon and Setúbal will gain four new workers each, Cascais will add six, and Porto will be reinforced with eight.

The application period for the competition will remain open for ten working days from the date of publication on the Public Employment Exchange (BEP). Successful candidates will assume the role of technical assistants under indefinite-term public employment contracts.

The second competition, following the same timelines and procedures, aims to recruit ten technical assistants for positions listed on the AIMA personnel map.

The third competition focuses on strengthening the National Center for Asylum and Refugees (CNAR) with four additional technical assistants, who will also be integrated into AIMA's staff.

The Government of Portugal has prioritized reorganizing AIMA's responsibilities and increasing its resources to ensure the agency operates efficiently. This includes equipping it with the necessary tools to provide a prompt and effective response in areas such as documentation, reception, and the integration of immigrants. According to the State Budget for 2025, AIMA has been allocated €19 million for the coming year.
